Counter-Terrorism Committees are about building perspectives and developing strategies to combat terrorism and as Pakistan, not only do you have rich experience in the field, you have access to near-infinite steering power over the discussion.

All delegates get to object to policies that fundamentally threaten national sovereignty and you could defend yourself by saying that not only are surveillance and espionage over Pakistan's territories in the past violations of your sovereignty, but the data collected is suspect and potentially show blatant disregard for your own efforts at tackling domestic terrorism.

Frame your position in a way that leaves you less vulnerable to simple logical rebuttals. Treat it like a QnA with Beerbiceps guy, but the BeerBiceps guy is actually smart and not a duffer.

I'm all for countries like Pakistan to have a seat at the table of something like counter-terrorism. You need to have a stakeholder on the side where this stuff is coming from. You can't have a unilateral discussion where ideas are essentially railroaded in. You need to get buy in from the other side.

That said, providing a co-chair spot in this committee is just asinine levels of stupidity and poor optics. It should be a country who is successfully pushing back against terrorism.

The UNSC seems to have a committee for everything, yet I struggle to recall a single instance where its discussions or resolutions have led to immediate, real-world impact. Most of it feels like endless talk with little tangible action. Putting Pakistan at the helm of an anti-terrorism committee in the UNSC is like handing the keys of a museum to the very thief who once looted it. It’s not just ironic,  it’s a mockery of the very principles the committee claims to uphold. When nations with a well documented history of harboring or turning a blind eye to terror networks are put in charge of fighting terrorism, it exposes just how toothless and compromised the system really is.
