India was and still is one of the world's largest importers of defense equipment, which isn't a good thing for such a large military in times of war. But it looks like its own domestic defence industry has grown by an unimaginable degree over the last decade and has actually started exporting a lot of weapons and ammunition to other countries.

The credit for this is largely being given to the Modi government because its defense ministers, particularly Manohar Parrikar, have tried to encourage private sector involvement in the sector, unlike the earlier UPA government whose defence minister, AK Antony, was a staunch socialist, who relied only on defence PSUs like HAL and ordinance factories, who are still being criticised by the armed forces for delays or poor-quality products.

the reason they are allowing complete tech transfer of their so called flagship aircraft is because it is a failed and untested model, even their own airforce doesn't use it actively in combat, they had always designed it as a cash grab for 3 rd world countries however the aircraft's inadequacies were apparent so it never sold according to their expectations, hence they are putting this deal on the table as a last ditch effort to rake in some profits .su 30 was great since it is very reliable and well tested. Unfortunately too many misinformed people in this thread. Can't blame them, news outlets of today are full propaganda pieces. Some points to clarify things for anyone interested :-

1- Su57, J35, F35, none of them are trash. That being said, none of them are 5g level brilliant as well. The world hasn't yet made the jump from 4.5 to 5g properly. F22 would be the closest to the top rather than any of those.

2- Tejas's RCS is smaller because it is a very small plane. It has been made that way, one of the smallest in the world. It offers lower detection than 5g jets despite not being 5g, that's one of it's pros.

3- No plane exists that is invisible on radar. AWACS and huge ground based radars detect everything. Planes like the B2 bomber with radar absorbent material are invisible but only upto a specific window of time. When they are enveloped by strong radar, after that specific window they show up as a huge blob on the radar. That window of time is not enough for the B2 to enter any major country and bomb in blindness. Same goes for 5g jets, they will get lit up by good radars within minutes.

4- Maneuverability and standoff distances are a bigger deal than stealth. Russian jets win maneuverability by a margin. Pilots that are well trained and have logged extensive high G hours on these jets can make those planes dance in the skies and evade anything thrown at them. American planes have longer and accurate A2A missiles. Amraams are one of the best in the world. Russians don't have as good A2A missiles. Long story short, American planes can stay out of KZ (kill zone) of Russian A2A missiles and fire multiple missiles at Russians. Russians can dodge them pretty well and launch an attack after the Americans have used their arsenal. That's the battle.

5- More than A2A, SAMs are important. Any 5g jet is not safe from good SAMs. Defending from SAMs is more important. Having good SAMs is similarly important.

6- India is surrounded by enemies. Don't make the mistake of thinking Russians are our all time friends. Russians are the ones who honeytrapped our naval officers and sold a junk AC to us for double the cost. Russians sell weapons to Pak, same as US. What matters for us is independence. Russians giving source codes to us is very important, that will help us integrate Su57s with our AD networks and will be a guarantee against foreign interference, which is being faced with France's Rafales as of now. I don't think any Rafale has been shot down, but since France is not giving us the Source Codes, India might show the French that a Rafale crashed because of lack of source codes that resulted in poor integration and pressure them into giving it to us. Basically, source codes are important to enable aircraft to talk to each other as well as talk to ground. As of now, Rafales cannot talk to other IAF jets, they can only talk to ground. This makes them vulnerable as ground is considerably slower. Bottomline is that source codes are important.

7- I think India might take up the offer and wargame it to the max. Look at what India did with Su 30 MKIs, everyone thought it was a bad deal but now we are using them to fire even Brahmos missiles as if it is a fkin long range bomber. India's SU 30s are miles better than other SU 30s in the world, including the russians, just because of the modifications made on them. HAL has integrated tech of atleast 4 different countries on them successfully.

8- Ultimately, our own 5g jet is the best solution. Independent drone swarms and systems like CATS will be the gamechangers in the near future. Until then, we might make do with Su 57s. Whatever be the case, trust the IAF to make the right calls.

India is seriously considering US F-35. 

US has allocated about $300B to collaborate with India on QUAD. US imports more from India than Russia. Despite having a huge trade balance, Russia buys more from China than India. 

Russia has never shared deep tech with India on SU-30MKI. This was because India was dumb when they signed the deal under Yeltsin administration. The agreement said it would be made in India, but did not realise that high tech parts would be supplied ready-made from Russia. Only the low-tech parts will be made in India, in addition to the final assembly. Repeated requests to share the source codes and tech were refused by Russia.

SU-57's engine does not produce the requested thrust. India paid about $200 million for development but Russia did not achieve the endpoints. Therefore, they would like to supply the source code now to stop India from buying F35.

But not good for India's diplomacy. Our main consumer for service sector is western countries. We have to make choice who to pick, because Russian will always choose China side if any war broke out and Russia is also shifting towards pak. We should focus on western countries because they can help us to build 5 or 10 trillion dollar economy and anything happens with China they can help with that too. 

So say no this deal not good for India.

Sorry, SU57 will simply be taken down by any stealth fighter jet. 

Su57 is not stealthy at all, despite what Russian bots might try to claim. 

There are only three stealth fighter Jets in the world: F35, F22 and J35. 

Unless we are trying to bolster our multirole capability, the SU57 is a horrible pick, even for "eMeRgEnCy" procurement.

It will be a diplomatic disaster since it will burn bridges with the US if we do so and the kind of attacks we will face from the MAGA Zombies and their biased media. So the best option is to develop our own jet which we r doing. But China is soon providing 5th gen fighter jet to Bhikharistan.
