Good thing Ukraine is getting it's funding from Europe an not from selling fossil fuels. I'm sending donations to Ukraine so they can buy things like generators, my heart goes out to the people living there. But it truly is asymmetric in that Ukraine can strike at Russia's ability to prosecute and supply the war, while Russia can only target civilians.

And yet Russia wonders what made so many of their neighbours join NATO. NATO are not the war mongerers. Russia is. Before the war NATO offered Russia several concessions such as limits on military exercises and a revival of the INF treaty. But Russia insisted on making unrealistic demands such as that NATO had to withdraw all troups from countries that joined after 1997.

It's going to be a rough winter for Ukraine.  Up until this point Russia has allowed them to keep the lights on intermittently, but over the past 18 months they've ramped up geran production to the point where if they want to they can completely shut off all the gas and electric service to all major cities across Ukraine, along with taking out the EU supply which would likely black out the rest of the country too.  

I suspect they won't take it quite that far yet, maybe making an example of a big city like Kyiv to make a point without endangering the lives of lots of vulnerable people.  But they're basically manufacturing an excuse to take this next step of escalation because they know Zelensky is too shortsighted to actually stop the refinery attacks.  So this will be portrayed as another offer he rejected despite the consequences to his people.

This is the result of the Russian retaliation in the infrastructure war v3.0; that Ukraine has willingly initiated and is perpetuating by attacking Russia's oil refineries. 

Nobody is disputing Ukraine's right to do that - but they will not be free from consequences, that Russia has warned about well ahead in advance; and they have a lot more toys to do it with. Ukraine will, however, pretend like this retaliation was completely unprovoked, stir a bunch of noise in the media, and request more weapons, sanctions and money. 

In addition to gas extraction, Russia is also hitting rail based logistics (mainly the locomotives) and power plants. I suppose the goal is to make it obvious that Russia can deal a lot more pain if it decides to commit, but I'm afraid all of that is falling on deaf ears; Zelensky just doesn't care who ends up paying for his escalation as long as the war can continue and he gets to stay in power.

Every time Russia sends one drone westward a minimum of 10 should go towards Russia to erase all relevant military infrastructure and production sites for war materials.
