I recently was buying basmati in Europe and every pack had written "product of Punjab". I couldn't find pakistan on any pack. Wonder if it's a ploy to hide now.

Very good news. Now Pakistan needs to litigate any company selling Basmati as made in India. They need to go after them in any and all jurisdictions that abide by these rulings on trademarks. And do not, by any means allow other companies to sell using the Basmati name.

Pakistans total rice export is like 9 million tons. About half basmati half non. 

India exports a lot more rice no doubt but it reclassified 1121 grain from long grain to basmati. Though it is long it lacks the fragrance you get from super kernel. 

India banned rice exports of non basmati. It needs to feed their own population. 

Pakistan doesn't have this issue we can export way more and still be ok.

Branding is important as is country of origin. The aroma is different and afficionado can tell the difference. 

Nothing wrong india should export what it can pakistan should export what it can. Super kernel is the true basmati and the aroma is absolutely distinguishable between india and pakistani rice.

Pretty big talk from a country that depends upon neighboring countries to even feed it. They don't produce enough food currently to sustain their population. Closing down Turbat for a week would probably cause mass starvation in Afghanistan.
