I'm from Arkansas, lived here my whole life as my family has for ~200 years. During that time, the state has only been run by Republicans since 2010 and it has been improving by nearly every objectively measurable metric in the last decade.

The northwest consistently ranks in top 5 or 10 places to live in the entire country. I own a big home with a big yard with incredibly friendly neighbors and there isn't any feces or needles to be found. It's a beautiful area, has about average salaries, and below average cost of living however housing is rapidly increasing in cost due to the influx of people from other states. 

In 1990, the population in the area was 165k, today it is at 560k, and projections have it hitting 1 million around 2040. It's also home to the world's largest company, largest meat company, and multiple top 20 logistics companies. Personally, I have a degree in physical chemistry and work in aerospace manufacturing. My salary isn't lavish by any means but my mortgage payment is about 1/4 of what it would cost to rent a 1 bedroom in NYC or SF.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders is, to be fair, not the most attractive woman in the world. However, we don't hire public officials based on looks. Her job performance so far has been top notch. My only criticism is she has thus far failed to abolish the state income tax but it is supposedly on the horizon. 

The state fares poorly on many metrics but upon closer inspection it is not the right-wing areas. The Mississippi delta region is incredibly impoverished and does terrible. It's also been run by Democrats forever. 

What these folks do not realize is that the Mississippi delta region is also overwhelmingly African American. The people they are denigrating and dehumanizing are actually rural, black Democrats. So not only do they sound like coastal elitist Democrat assholes, it also sounds unintentionally racist.

I hope they think Arkansas is a shit hole. Fantastic, stay in your stinky, crime-ridden, insanely expensive big cities. There's already more people than I would prefer down at the river competing against me for fish and I'm not fond of my property taxes drastically increasing every year due to my home's value skyrocketing. I have a feeling they'd be incredibly uncomfortable in my neighborhood anyway as almost every home has a big American flag out front.

Our day to day life is without the consistent hate. Don’t get me wrong, I along with family members from time to time hear about the next great liberal scam they are pushing and shake our heads and tell each other “WTF”.

A few years ago, either the weather.gov or SPC website had an historical page on the Tri-State Tornado.  It was a detailed overview of the storm with a modern day recreation of it via the use of present day NWS warnings as it would be reported today.  There was a "1925 real time" county-by-county tornado warning track of the storm during its over 200 mile long path, using the modern day NWS EAS warning format.  It also included a mesoscale discussion of the day's severe weather outlook.  It was a really cool way to follow its historical path as if it was happening live.  The last time I looked for the hypothetical warnings page (a couple of years ago at least), it had been taken down.  Hopefully it will be put back online in the future.

There's something genuinely unsettling about how this tornado has ascended almost to the point of being myth. We know so little about it compared to the likes of Bridge Creek and Hackleburg, other than the photos of the damage after the fact and its approximate power and track length, that it leaves almost all of the situation to the imagination. And the imagination is *powerful.*

Also, the things that we do know this thing did make me think, and also *hope,* that it's a once-in-a-millennium event. 99.9% of storms could never sustain an EF5 tornado for as long as this storm sustained this tornado.

I was watching it all on radar from Osceola county. The lightning show was SPECTACULAR. I have never seen such a high frequency of anvil crawlers here. Those clouds were spitting bars. Purple, orange, blue. If I didn't have to work this morning I would have headed south for a chase. 

There's just something crazy about big storms in Michigan. We don't get them often, but when we do, they are absolute cinema

I'm not 100% sure but I believe one happened in lyon township as well. When those storms came through all I could hear was the sound of a freight train. There was some radar indicated rotation over Brighton but I lost power around the time the sound of a freight train came by. There was some minor damage to the trees near me. I'm unsure if it was just the wind that caught it though.
