Racism against Asians has been there for ages and yes Covid has raised that hatred.
In Asian countries, even if people aren't masking themselves anymore or as often, you are also less likely to be yelled at, or attacked for wearing a mask.
It's culturally appropriate to mask while symptomatic with illness there, but many stick to the shit blue masks; and many think it is a foreign bug that pure Japanese blooded people don't need to worry about.
