Once you are in a densely packed crowd, you cant react alone anymore. Your body is combined with everyone else. You move when they move. If you are next to a wall or something, the combined force in the crowd would travel in waves and will crush your diaphragm. 20 seconds you can be fine without breathing, after that you will lose conciseness. Then comes the fatal blow, you fall to the ground. No one will pay attention. Even if they do, they cant stop the crowd moving. Either others will fall over you or they run over you. Its very dangerous. Be safe out there.

Reading statements in the morning from the Deputy Chief Minister encouraging people to come to the stadium makes me sick to my stomach. This is not the first, and unfortunately the last time, that such a tragedy will take place in India. We do not have the civic sense to behave calmly when gathering in large numbers. The police, fire and emergency services are thoroughly incapable of handling such large crowds, and you can't blame them. Even for an ambulance to reach the disaster spot is a nightmare given the density of traffic in the central business district. The value of human life is very cheap in India. What a terrible day.

it’s just so tragic. what was supposed to be a moment of joy for rcb fans turned into a deadlt celebration. the parade seemed rushed, as in the rcb management was in a hurry to do this. they should have waited for 2 to 3 days and proper management could have been made during these days. it should have been avoided. though there was no need for this parade but i understand the sentiment of the team and fans. nevertheless, this should have never happened. praying for the lives lost and those injured.

I'm all for supporting RCB when it matters but not in shit like this. There are people talking about how it's not RCB's fault because people have no civic sense. My guy, most Indians have no civic sense and it's clear as daylight. When you're planning something as massive as this you just have to take it into account. You can't win a trophy and immediately throw something like this the next day. Even the T20WC parade happened a lot better than this shithousery. Also, Chinnaswamy is small. It's not NMS, it's not Eden.



The worst part is little kids are dead. If it was some adult then you know it was their choice to be there, knowing well in advance that such crowds in roads like Queens Road during evening traffic will be horrible. Kids did not deserve any of this, they're kids. The policeman carrying a kid in his arms broke my heart. Imagine the pain of a mom when she hears this?

It went something like : rcb management announced on media that their would be a victory parade + stadium celebration 

To which the police said no...as they can only provide security for stadium

But people remain unaware of this fact cause there were no official statements from media team of rcb...

People in large numbers showed up to participate in victory parade ...upon realizing their were no parade everyone sort of went towards the system...although only people with tickets were allowed inside..

There was huge crowd wanting to be inside the stadium and near the entry outside the stadium the stampede occurred....

I was there at the stadium. Me and my friends went in by 3.30pm and there was little push and pull but nothing serious. The people who came later ( after the fact that entry was free became known for everyone - this was just known to people who were present there at the stadium at 2pm ish ) they rushed bad. Climbed walls, horny fences. We literally saw people getting crushed pulled fell and that was horrific. Man that was too bad to watch. We wanted to come out and go to safety but that was not possible coz where will u go? Whole crowd is just standing outside. 

Next is the metro and public transport which was blocked and whole church street, MG road and up to 3-4kms people are waiting for the buses to come and the roads were filled with traffic. Luckily we parked our bikes in nearby mall and so we could get out early. 

I saw a woman getting crushed to the edge of a stairs in second floor and all we could do is pull her out. And the very next instant she went inside the stadium.

I could not understand anything. The govt and the rcb management did real shit show and should have at least stopped and send every out. Yet the continued and the people too lack basic common sense. 

Really the feeling of winning yesterday is no more inside me.

Crowd control comes under law and order. RCB (or any franchise) would go for such wild celebration. It was the duty of administrators (police and ruling govt.)  who should have anticipated, acted, controlled and monitored these. I guess here the ruling govt. personnel themselves took part in celebration and was in part mode. At the very least police should have acted upon. In any other gatherings they would have controlled. Political pressure maybe. It's a collective failure. Everyone must be held accountable.
