For south India, Tamil Nadu state on the east coast will not have rain June-July. The monsoon arrives later in the year there. But it will still be too damn hot.

Basically the only regions with guaranteed comfortable temperatures are in the Himalayas. And some of those areas have risk of roads closed due to flooding.

Lots of great places get little rain, like Hampi in Karnataka state. But aside from the Himalayas, you need to have a tolerance for extreme hot temperatures in those places.

- Wildlife in national parks may be harder to see because they’ll be deep inside and won’t have to scourge for water as they do in other seasons.

- big cities will have disruptions because of the rains

- Kerala and Goa will be nicer, lush and green, you could consider that

- Himalayas in Himachal, UK are prone to landslides during this season so it’s not recommended although there are some amazing treks that open up during the monsoons. Look up Har Ki Dun, Valley Of Flowers, Hampta Pass etc

Kashmir and Ladakh area is less affected in monsoon. We trekked kashmir great lakes in July last year. If you will be around Mumbai, experience the rain and waterfalls doing a day hike in Sahyadri. Last couple of years, June has been relatively dry.

I was in India in June-July last year backpacking around. The Ladakh region is amazing and is at its best to visit in June and July. Would highly recommend going to Leh, and spending some time trekking (if you haven’t already done so in Nepal, I would rather trek in Nepal then India tbh) and going on excursions to nearby valleys like Nubra Valley. 

I also trekked in Nepal in June last year. The monsoons really weren’t that bad, we only got rained on twice, but it is kind of miserable to be trekking in the rain hah. If you do plan on trekking in Nepal, I would go as early as you can so you catch the earliest and lightest portion of the Monsoon, I was super thankful we didn’t end up trekking in July as we definitely would have gotten rained on much more. 

Also, can I send you a DM? I am planning on backpacking Central America later this year and would love some tips or advice about this region.

The sad part is that Kerala, the land of coconuts, did not establish a coconut based industry and economy at all. First, it had to be lost to TN and then gained back. 

Food and agri processing can be, and should be encouraged at the micro, small and medium scale level all over KL, so that from raw harvest to finished goods, everything is processed and made available here. Why lose out on value to other places?

Fruit and vegetable crops have huge potential. Lots of water, smaller crop cycles, and not too much of machinery needed. Expensive but beneficial technologies like drip irrigation etc can be brought in- Kerala has the money to invest in these things. The govt should be encouraging this. This will require labour ready to work, and work at reasonable rates, and a market that is ready to buy at reasonable rates. 

I know people who started out with growing something or the other in their backyards, and then stopped because they could not get labour to work, were harassed by headload workers for loading stuff into vehicles etc, and just stopped.

The same can be achieved in coir Industry. Some years back I've read that husks from Kerala was taken to Tamil Nadu for processing and they then give it to Chinese companies. The Chinese companies take even the low quality husks and turn it to finished goods and export it back to India.

Another sector I find untapped is large scale ornamental fish exports. I feel that a state with enough water resources and monsoon can emulate singapore model fish exports with professional training and investments and subsidies.
