Technically yes they could but it would have to be an incredibly coordinated and planned effort. They don't have the capabilities to strike back in any quick fashion that we wouldn't see coming from a mile away. It would have to be a 9/11 level of planning/coordination to pull off but 24 years later after all of the advances in intelligence and technology we have. That or a very small cell would have to construct weapons and target a building or event or something to carry out a small attack.

The reason we don’t have universal healthcare or other betterments to society is because our military can shoot a quarter out of our airspace in less than a second reaction time. 

No matter which side you land on Middle East conflicts (and this has been going on since desert storm, where we are involved in some way), none of those countries are going to attack mainland America. They can’t get a missile here and we are protected on both sides by ocean. No matter the conflicts Trump has made with Canada and Mexico (and Trump owns those. Once he’s gone, our relationship with Mexico and Canada will return to positive), neither of them want war either so absolutely wouldn’t help Iran attack us. 

Could this lead to war? I have no idea. But if it did, it wouldn’t be WW3. It would be another Middle East conflict that we should have kept our nose out of. 

To clarify the answer to your question: no. Absolutely no one is getting a missile into our airspace.

Missiles from there could not really reach us, and even if they could, Israel has destroyed most of their missiles, and Iran is focusing what remains of their missiles on Israel. Army invasion would also be ludicrous. We’re most at risk for some kind of terrorist attack, but it wouldn’t be the same as 9/11 given how much security we have now on air travel. There’s also plenty of domestic terrorism happening here that we should be concerned about.

EDIT: I am concerned about American citizens and troops in the region though.

Very little, and if somehow they did they'd be enraging the largest military in the world with little to no support. You might see a resurgence of jingoism like in the early two thousands but now that we've lived through that we're better organized to stop it from getting too draconian. At the end of the day, don't let the self righteously frightened get under your skin. I'm sure they feel like they're spreading awareness and being accurate to prevent others from underestimating the threat but in the end all they end up doing is spreading the very same type of propaganda that got DJT into power.

Just yesterday I wrote a comment saying tail was wagging the dog when it comes to US-Israel relationship and what happened afterwards further proved this point.

Comment about the Middle East's hatred for the US is mostly about Israel is right. The greatest destabilizing force of the region *is* Israel because of what they have done and things that have been done to keep them safe for decades. 

They've bombed 4 countries around them in the last year and invaded 3 of them, slaughtered tens of thousands of innocents, starved children and massacred help workers trying to save lives. And every time they faced consequences of their actions, they just doubled down on brutality.

People act as if Iran would have immediately launched nuclear weapons if they produced them. North Korea, perhaps the single most belligerent country on the planet, has nuclear weapons and all they have done is run their mouth. Because even they know that nukes can't be used without risking annihilation.

What nukes actually would've changed is they would've prevented Israel from being able to attack Iran whenever they wanted. The only reason for this war is that Israel's hegemony and future imperialistic plans were threatened and nothing more.
