So let me get this straight. If at all the INDI alliance somehow win the election, how is this going to play out? EVMs weren't hacked? Modi government did a good job to safeguard the elections? EVM is an issue not in India, but in democracies all over the world. 

Among many things written in the book, they looked what other countries with higher democracy than us are doing - european countries like Germany, NL etc, Japan, US, and those countries have either reverted to a paper based ballot, or do a combination of EVM + 100% counting of VVPAT, unlike India where only a randomly selected 5% of the voting centers are considered for counting VVPATs.

  
What the opposition parties had been asking for long, is that VVPAT counting should be 100%. You have to wonder why BJP doesn't want that, even though they wrote a book about it in 2010. Countries with much higher level of democracy - western european countries - aren't going solely on EVMs, even though they invented them a lot earlier than us.

Yes, its a full blown myth that EVMs are infailabale / temper proof and that they're the best option for voting.

One of the easiest counter to it is lack of transparency. In a democratic election, transparency should be above all, current EVMs have zero transparency. If there were some bad actors at play and wanted to tamper the code or the hardware inside (Chandigarh election says its definitely possible, esp moreso when its a matter of trillions of dollars), we'd have no clue because we didn't know what was there in the first place and now we won't know what's changed. That alone is enough to abolish the current EVM setup, it needs to be fully transparent. This is also a major trust deficit, an opaque system can never be trusted for a democratic election. Recently, in Karnataka, myself and my entire family got our voter card cancelled and had to undergo some stupid shit process stand in lines for an entire day for 2 days to get it renewed and pay thousand rupees per person is bribes to the fucking govt employees to get the voted card renewed. 


This happened to a lot of people, not just hindu and muslim. 

But issue however is that when renewal happens, a lot of Muslims will be questioned of their nationality and be asked to show a dozen documents and shit for the process while it is a smooth sailing for non muslims. 


These bureaucratic processes are intentionally designed as hurdles for the ones who would not vote for bjp. This is a very effective and very useful tactic done by bjp.
