Many experts say that there are no strong laws to addess this. In my opinion, You cant have more stronger laws. What matters is the execution but most importantly, the mindset of the people. I daresay that sexual education and safety is a must in higher secondary education for both girls and boys to teach them the proper conduct in these matters, and not a topic to be simply skipped for self study.  

I live in Coimbatore, and here some people are even afraid to let girls outside the house after dusk, despite this city being very safe for girls. I have to always carry a pepper spray with me whenever I go. 

I am Supposed to wear only chudis, bcoz apparently, they say these happen bcoz of the clothes we wear. I shouldnt  face any man I dono, even if its a shop or so, bcoz apparently, they say we facing them and smiling is an invitation to flirt. 

No one, I say, NOONE is willing to clearly address the problem but instead shift the blame to girls for everything that happens to us. Most people blames the persons who did this, but instead criticises the victim saying she shouldnt have talked or done so and so.. 

My husband asked me that whether the increase in rape cases nowadays is due to more wide social media usage and hence reporting or due to actual Increase in cases. I really really hope that its the former. But I have no more hope left.

I absolutely feel you and understand the heart of your post but this particular part sounds off. Most sex workers in india are barely safe. They ARE 'innocent' women. They are in fact highly vulnerable to rape and if at all they report, they'll most probably just get blamed for engaging in sex work. A woman who does sex work deserves protection as much as every other woman who doesn't.

I really feel you. Being a woman, it's getting harder &amp; harder to exist everyday in this country, in this state. Especially when these things happen in educational institutions ? Being a student, it just hits a little closer to home. But nevertheless I fucking hate every case. That law student, she is so brave she wrote out her statement in clear firm writing. Then there was that tribal woman rape case. The harsh reality that rape is so normalised these days, that people will hardly pay any attention  - even Supreme Court refuses to give the harshest of punishment, why? Because the crime wasn't the rarest of the rare OR it wasn't committed with brutality. What does all this bullshit even mean? We women will always speak up for each other, because if not us then who? And the few lucky cases maybe get protests but even then there is never any Real justice, and eventually the cycle just repeats itself with a new victim. And I too am so fucking tired of all this. I
 would have to say there are several issues that brought us to this stage. 
1) As many have mentioned. Justice is shit because the people we vote for are shit (many of us don't vote lol). And we as each individual are corrupt one way or another.
2) I don't necessarily want to say Civic Sense but enforcement of law is non existent. Forget about Integrity, one must be afraid of repercussions if we throw trash on the streets or spit on the sidewalk. We are all equally to blame for this.
3) We are more concerned about language ears than resolving actual problems.
4) Every single institution that we interact with on a daily basis is corrupt. 
5) We don't give two shits about each other and most are like, I have better things to do. 
6) Bullying is built into and we don't realize we are bullying others with our words and actions and it's been normalized. 

These are some of the blatantly obvious ones that frustrate the crap out of me. A culmination of all these reasons brings us to our current predicament.

We need to change the whole language and mind set around this reporting. A girl did not just get raped. 3 men raped a collage girl. Men should be given the active role in the hineous crime. Men keep saying not all men, but they should be shown that it is always men. On the Arubag goswami like characters turned the sad murder of a groom into a are men safe question, but after this they will ask questions about why the girl was raped.

It should not matter that the crime is under investigation, the girl is shamed anyway right? The society will use her as a cautionary take, but no one knows the men involved and they will go on to have normal lives. Women need to take matters in their own hands. We need to start tagging these men as rapists and ensure all other women know what they did. I have been leaving red flag comments underany men's profile who have glorified rape as moral justice in their comments. You should be aware around men who you know as well,most of these cases that are buried down comes from people who gain your trust. This country is all around a shitty place to live at, especially cities like Delhi where people make you fried by lusty looks,vulgar remarks and hostile all around. Its also very disheartening to see how most of the victims don't try to utilise the system set for justice ,as most of these system is inadept, corrupt and the community which should be standing up for them would ostracise them. But they are forced to make this decision in an innately patriarchal society by blaming them and bending them into submission.
