The key is in your statement: there are no journalists there. This means it just doesn't get the same amount of reporting as say a quasi Western country like Israel whereby journalists can come in and stay, visit and live comfortably. I was in Gaza as an IDF soldier, and can confirm the scale of destruction.

I cannot defend the scale of death to children and innocent civilians - it's a failure and a horrible travesty.

   
What needs to be understood is that since the Israeli retreat from Gaza in 2005, and the subsequent take over of Hamas in 2007, Hamas has shot over 22,000 rockets over to Israel, sent countless burning kites and drones to burn fields, built massive underground tunnel and weapon infrastructure underneath civilian homes, schools and hospitals (costing billions that could have gone towards development and prosperity), and committed the deadliest and most barbaric attack towards Israel or the Jewish people since the holocaust, killing over 1,400 and kidnapping over 250. 

After 18 years of constant harm and threat, and 6 rounds of serious bombardments culminating in Oct 7th 23 - Israel cannot afford to allow Hamas to continue to control Gaza - its borders, its enrichment off taxes and imports, allowing them to rebuild their death cult infrastructure and brainwashing education system. 

Fighting against Hamas in dense Gaza is nearly impossible - every other home is booby trapped, has a peer to a tunnel or has stores weapons or ammunition.  The only way to fight there is by destroying nearby buildings and slowly moving and searching for the presence of terrorists or hostages.

This type of fighting is so complicated, that a large proportion of IDF casualties and injuries come from self fire mistakes.  

Without global pressure to remove Hamas from power and return the hostages - the conflict can not end, as far as Israel's contract with it's citizens and it's obligation for their future safety and security. 

It's a complicated situation with extreme right wing voices within Israel's government, and with a prime minister threatened by corruption trials - they must go as well for a future of peace an coexistence to occur. But first and foremost Hamas must loose legitimacy and control, and the money to rebuild Gaza cannot be funneled through them (as with the aid currently).

The life loving people of Israel and Gaza are hostages to Hamas.
