I typically think of Hamas as a government, with government employees, and a military.

What I am describing is total surrender of the Hamas government and its military.  I would assume the leaders of a dictatorship need to leave an area after they are removed from office for their own personal safety.  You can’t suppress the people you are supposed to lead for over a decade, fall from power, and then walk around the population and say “that whole no elections and brutal oppression thing I did, my bad”.  They will be killed, or at a minimum prosecuted by the new government for their human rights violations against the people.  They will flee to avoid this outcome.

The army will need to retire, and fully abandon any armed force activity.  No firearms, no military, no fighting.  So those fighters still loyal to Hamas will need to get over it, leave, or be imprisoned by the new government if they are bent on fighting.  Or, preferably, live peacefully amongst the civilian population if that is a choice they are willing to make and live by.

This may be ridiculous but many previously released Palestinian prisoners have gone of to murder many Israelis in further terror attacks.

Negotiation didn’t fail because Palestinians want too much, it failed because Israel never offered anything close to justice. You call stolen land a ticking clock like it’s a clever game mechanic, then act shocked when people resist. It's real humans, real homes, real lives.

In the not-so-distant future, the US will start to become like Europe. Once they start to understand what's going on, it will be too late. Remember what I said. At least I'm glad I live in Israel. You forget to mention that all of this is happening in the context of mass killings of civilians in the Gaza Strip, and atrocities -- people burning to death in their tents, journalists being cut into pieces in a beachfront cafe (that happened yesterday), small children starving to death... (check CNN's horrifying video, published this weekend).

It is difficult for some people to keep a cool head and remember that Israel has the right to exist and Israelis the right to live in safety -- just like Palestinians have -- when they see Netanyahu, a man charged with crimes against humanity, conducting airstrikes over civilian targets in Gaza.

We need to strive for a ceasefire, followed by negotiations and a two-state solution.
