Enlightened Lundbhakts say that J&amp;K has now returned to normalcy after Modi removed Article 370. For them, it is normalcy because tourists can visit Kashmir. These blind fucks don't see the problem with the fact that the state of J&amp;K and its citizens had to be stripped of their statehood and their rights just for a few tourists to enjoy the views while polluting the region.

Even with the region being heavily militarised by Chodiji, tourists and jawans get killed in terror attacks. Which begs the question, why exactly is the military there in J&amp;K then? Can any lundbhakt solve this mystery?

Calling India a democracy is a joke. 

Hope they pay for these crimes after they are booted out of power.

Jammu geographically &amp; ethnically is closer to India than is to Kashmir and you will see it in the environment. 

Historically it has never been part of Kashmir because Kashmir and Jammu are separated by Himalayas. 


Kashmir being a 97% Muslim majority wants to be with Pakistan while Jammu has 65% Hindu majority who want to be with India. But because GIGIT and AJK, Ladakh were part of the state under Hari Singh, Muslims had a 70+ Muslim majority in all of the state. 

Indian govt can’t separate Jammu from Kashmir because without Kashmir, Jammu is just a border town without a purpose. 

When Pakistan or India says IOK or POK, they specifically refer to Kashmir, because Jammu isn’t equal to Kashmir valley, Pakistan has parts of Kashmir valley and Gilgit which isn’t a part of Kashmir valley. India refers to the whole as POK while Pakistan has separated Gilgit and AJK and refers to IOK as Makbooza Kashmir or occupied Kashmir.

Jammu city was always part of kashmir state including pir panjal and chenab historically , but just as a small district like the other ones and not a whole division , it was where the whole industries of the state were setup cuz of the ideal plains location. But only after in 20th century ,jammu was made into whole division with all the districts having significant hindu population to protect the hindus from extremist Kashmiri organisation,  
"Independent kashmir" varies from ppl to ppl like sm one only include kashmir valley , smone include whole state except the plains and lastly sm support whole state independent

How does it help to frame the issue in these terms? Seems completely unhelpful. Let’s begin by understanding what are the geo-political tensions. Then we can make comparisons with Gaza on experiential/ moral grounds.

India’s claim over Kashmir rests on its involvement in providing military aid to free Kashmir and then betraying that promise. It used a ‘doctrine of lapses’ type of argument to claim the region in the name of ‘stability’ and finally used the historical documentation from 51 and 57 to establish that it is an integral part of India and federalising it in 2019. The obliteration of even the hope of self-determination by forceful integration through 370 also means that no matter who comes to power, it would necessarily follow that it would have to establish legitimacy and underplay forceful integration. Changing the demographic to garner legitimacy and issue a detente over self-determination claims is No.1 on India’s agenda.

Having been defeated through Indian military intervention in the early years. Pakistan’s claim over Kashmir relies on appealing to the UN Security Council to undertake a referendum to let Kashmiris determine the fate of Kashmir. They hope that in doing so, they would be the beneficiaries. And India also fears the same and goes on its rhetorical grand-standing against ‘the international community’ which has till now done very little other than record human rights violations. Which is, needless to say, undeniably overwhelming. Even to that India has often reacted with acerbic lies, propaganda and coverups, blindsiding the geo-political tension that both states engage in. But neither want to even contemplate the possibility that Kashmir wants self-determination and that maybe what the referendum will reveal. Which is dreadful to both states.

Pak have no doubt done double speak, speaking the language of freedom in the international scenario and increasingly escalated tensions when they see opportunity.

China has not laid claim to the whole region. It doesn’t have to as they have managed to acquire the Karakoram pass for their BnR project and they are in control of important strategic positions and military bases. 

Pakistan being in the good books or the black lists on US interests depends on their relationship with China. Pak was removed from the UN sanctioned black lists (eg. FATF) after Imran was unseated. On the other hand, India has become increasingly powerful in the UN and also become a full member of FATF having some power to intervene in deciding who is and is not black listed. 

Let’s keep in mind, no state can ever be ‘innocent’. Nevertheless, what about the Kashmiris in the middle of this mess between states!?! What about what they want?? This cannot even begin to be understood if we continue to frame the question as an India vs Pak issue! 

Looked at from the perspective of Kashmiris, their everyday life is severely stifled by Israeli bought surveillance and guidance systems, highly militarised and constantly on watch, demonised for throwing stones and no recourse against militarisation. Completely suffocated on all sides. For Kashmiris, Indian military is a constant everyday protracted torture. Now with electoral penetration, the question of their autonomy has been shutout completely and India is certainly trying to play from the Israel playbook in terms of its day to day operations. Kashmir is ‘not yet’ but soon to be Gaza. Just as Gaza was the only coastal access (among other things), this is about military high ground (among other things). 

There is no sense in presenting India vs Pak to legitimise India’s actions! Make some sensible analysis as a leftist rather than centre-right claims that want to obfuscate the operation of war mongering and geo-politics!

Nehru was a true friend of Kashmiri Muslims. The idea of colonizing Kashmir could never come to him. All he strove for was a Secular and Modern Kashmir. 

To basically equate India's intervention to defend Kashmir in 1947 - as appealed by National Conference, the most popular party of Kashmiri Muslims - with the ethnic cleansing done by Zionists, is an utter mockery of history.

You are ignoring the failure of indian govt in maintaining the trust of the Kashmir people. How can you expect them to be peaceful if they keep getting cheated by the Indian govt on their initial agreement? Kashmiris from the get-go wanted 'autonomy within India' where they will be essentially a vassal state of India. But the Indian govt has kept reneging on this agreement and trying to remove the autonomy.    
You are also ignoring how many innocent kashmiris have been killed by the indian govt in trying to suppress any protest.     
If you want to keep blaming pakistan for everything, then just give them kashmir, no? Because if you want to claim a land; you have to take the responsibility and the blame and hold your own country accountable for its problems.

Moreover, the Indian govt is actively working with Israhell on ways to occupy the land and trample on the rights of the citizens. I mean, tell me the forced searches, detainment on baseless claims and custodial torture that Kashmiris have to go through doesn't mirror what Palestinians go through. 

Some ppl have rightly said, Kashmir is the litmus test for Indian leftists.

If Kashmir had net zero or net negative returns to India as a whole and we're keeping our foothold on Kashmir through fascism and tyranny, maybe it's time we realise that letting it go would be the best option, at least we leftists should think of it. Let Pakistan take it or let Kashmiris be an independent country or even let aliens from outer space conquer Kashmir, it should be none of our business. We can't choose to be imperialist just because someone else might do the same if we don't. That's exactly what settlers in Israel are doing to justify their actions in the west bank. 

India is just holding onto Kashmir to just "show China &amp; Pakistan who's the boss" when in reality China doesn't care and has its belt and road initiative plan done in full even without India.
