If this war does go hot (or at this point, get hotter), Pakistan is unlikely to attempt any nuclear strikes unless they are facing an actual land invasion from India. If that were to happen, Pakistan would target the National Capital Region, India's main center of government and home to between 33-35 million people. The NCR is within range of Pakistani missiles, and because India has a fairly robust anti missile system the only real way to do actual damage is to focus everything onto one target. So they pick New Delhi and its surrounding region, and fire off their 170+ nuclear missiles, hoping to do the most damage possible. Likely 20-30 of those missiles would break through, and the results are that millions or tens of millions of people get slaughtered - mostly the poor, as they do not have access to safety bunkers or the means to flee before the strike. 

India has no first strike policy, but once hit they would stop at nothing to render Pakistan a nuclear wasteland. 250 million people would be in the crossfires of total war, and between the actual strike and the fallout and famine that would follow, this would easily become the deadliest conflict in human history, possible killing over 300 million or higher. That is just the human cost; I can only imagine the runaway consequences so far, but China would almost certainly risk pushing further down the Line of Actual Control in the Himalayas while India is distracted, much of the Middle East would turn against India disrupting some of the world's most vital trade routes, and possibly a wider holy war between Islam and Hinduism would break out, and beyond that who knows? The environmental impact would be not insignificant either, but mostly localized - kind of like a bigger, worse Chernobyl, with far more people downwind of the fallout.

In this case I would caution against alarmism, and remind everyone that Iran full-on attacked Israel a few months ago and everyone thought that was the big ugly thing, and now it has been mostly forgotten. That didn't even escalate into a conventional war, let alone a nuclear one. People tend to back off after initial hostilities. Unless they're American. In most other cases, cooler heads prevail when they realize what's at stake.

Given Ukraine attention dimmed and eyes started staring back at Gaza, they need other conflict to take the media attention.

That "terrorist" attack that started all this was quite media focused with specific non-muslim victims to frame Pakistan, quite textbook state intelligence work. Paramilitaries had no win with that, the war is clearly being steered on purpose.

Thirteen generations of my family has served in the Military starting from Keonjhar Kingdom very long ago, under foreign rule for the first time under Marathas, then vassal states of British, then the British Indian Army in the world wars and now in the Indian Army. Military talks are extremely common in my family and hence there is a lot of information passing around in my home that people in the public are unaware of.

It would be a very long detailed answer but I will make it short and reel-like. Many people think Pakistan is run by the Army. Some people think Pakistan is run by the Government. The government sits in Islamabad and the Army sits in Rawalpindi. What people don't realize, is that off late, Pakistan is run entirely from Bahawalpur. Bahawalpur is home to Hafiz Saeed, leader of Lashkar E Tayyaba and de-facto king of Pakistan. Pakistan was seething as the Indian Air Force had dropped a bomb right on the head of Pakistan's de-facto ruler Hafiz Saeed. They were escalating like anything and IAF decided to give them the scare of their lives by blowing open the door to their nuclear arsenal. India wanted to send a message across that India is capable of dealing with Pakistan's nuclear threat.

It is actually not that big of a threat. Just having a nuclear bomb isn't enough, a country also must have the capability to deliver it to a precise location and detonate it remotely at a specific point and height. India is capable of launching and detonating nuclear bombs from land, sea, air and even from underwater. Pakistan can only deliver nuclear bombs by using their F-16 jets. All of their nuclear arsenal is concentrated in one airport, blow that out and nuclear threat is half gone. Even if Pak manages to get an F-16 loaded with nuclear warheads airborne somehow, India has ample air defenses to shoot it out of the sky before it even reaches India's borders. People might be amazed at this but India's home-grown missile systems like Astra BVR A2A, Akash Air Defence, R series of missiles delivered from Sukhoi 30 MKI jets (highly formidable jets, can carry a lot of heavy weapons and still be as agile as an acrobat in the sky) are more than capable of shooting out F-16s in Pakistani airspace itself. Hence, India doesn't really have anything to fear as Pakistan essentially cannot nuke India, but India can nuke entire Pakistan straight back to the dinosaur ages.

Moreover regarding the earthquakes, if we believe the publicly available data, a focal depth of 10km is not possible for a nuclear test.

This looks like a conspiracy theory as of now, they are fun, and honestly we will never know the actual reason, could be anything, but we'll never know, not until the next 20-25 years. I won't dismiss it, but I'm just providing evidence against, there are a lot of information tho that imply that US intervened to prevent a nuclear escalation, but , we will never know.
