This is not necessarily a big deal. Russian oil will first flow to a third country (one which does not export much to USA so will not be affected by Tariffs) and then from there flow to India. In fact, this already happens a lot. UAE is the middleman with the advantage that UAE themselves export oil, so you can blend Russian oil with UAE oil so its not very clear what is being sold (Indian refineries can refine all sort of oil, so this doesn't matter). This also allows India to bypass the dollar and trade with Russia in UAE Dirhams so its out of US sanctions regime.

China won't even bother with doing this. They will just impose a reciprocal tariff against US and US will eventually back down just like it did back in March.

India is not supporting this Russia-Ukraine war anymore than any other European nation. India is supporting the world’s largest population and largest democracy and most diverse country in terms of religions and cultures with its population having avg median income of around 2.5k-3k USD annually. It’s not the matter of buying oil from “who”, it is the matter of buying from whoever is supplying cheaper at any given moment. If India is made to buy highly expensive US oil(which these lowlly politicians are trying to do) it might just be a suicide for this country. So before you judge this tricky situation, keep in mind that India is still a developing country dependent on affordable energy supplies and how many factors are involved in this. Fun Fact: A big portion of the said russian oil is refined and thus sold to fellow Europeans which they very happily buy because it’s now Indian. See how the world works!

Biden travelled to India to beg India to buy Russian oil in order to stabilize the market and now Trump and EU want India to stop. So the west think India is a toy? EU and USA stop trading with Russia first ant then talk about others.

The EU buys Russian oil yes. They mostly stopped buying gas though. And the Russian oil is bought with a price cap to decrease Russian income from oil exports. At the same time buying it is necessary to stop Russia from suddenly stopping it’s exports and thereby causing an oil crisis. 

It may sound worse to buy the Russian oil for cheap. It might sound better to stop buying Russian oil overall. But in a world that relies on fossil fuels it would destabilise the whole economy (An economy that’s already weak because of the Russian asset in the White House, the war itself, Corona and other causes.) We need our economy to support Ukraine.

Im very supportive of ukraine defending themselves. So in theory i would support these secondary sanctions. The problem is trump is such a moron at geopolitics that he first fucked the relationship with most of the world by being unpredictable and malicious with the tariffs, and then tries to get them on board with following his agenda.
