I feel like the question shouldn’t be if this is a victory or not, but how big of a victory is this? I know it sounds a bit boastful and whatnot, but I see a lot of people here only focusing on the first day of the conflict. 
The fact of the matter is that on the last day, on the 10th, the IAF had a free hand in picking and choosing any targets in pakistan, and did so with precision.
If it would have truly been a “victory” as they claim it to be, we wont have been able to strike so well and deep inside enemy territory, their Air force and Air defences were curiously silent. 
Like any great operations of the past, be it Desert storm or Focus, Victory often does come at a price.
But oh boy was this one worth it :)

While I agree with most of your points I don't agree with the scenarios and your approach.

1. Indian jets were not allowed to engage Pakistani fighters? This is a highly wild speculation, when enemy jets fire it is declared hostile and it can be engaged. The thing is Indian mission was a balakot style hit and return mission, Indian rafales launched their missiles while other jets provided cover. Since rafales were carrying air to ground payload they were not carrying air to air missiles. Atleast not meteors for whatever reasons. India has Astra 1 in operational only (max range 100km, significantly low no escape zone like aim120 c5 which pakistani f16 use)  and Astra 2 is still under development /testing. Pl15 missile is a capable missile, most likely Pakistans qrf team was scrambled instantly as soon as they saw a squadron of jets approaching their borders. Indian jets were supposed to hit ground targets so despite they could see pakistani jets in air they didn't engage them as their primary target was terrorist installation and if Pakistan air force engaged then they would engage with them while Pakistan af objective was to engage IAF as soon as they approach danger zone. While rafales where firing air to ground targets they could already have been in PL15 no escape zone. Indian jets must have retaliated and got few jets of theirs with their Astra and even s400 engaged their awacs.

Losses are on both sides but Indian side loss could have been because they waited for Pakistan to engage first on air to air.

Pakistani f16 are not very good, they are block 52 models and use aim120 c5 missiles. Our Astra is marginally better.

2. It's difficult to target mobile air defenses from cruise missiles if you don't know the locations. That's why drones were used.

3. India never wanted escalation and all its strikes have been reactionary. They didn't want to perform sead missions before performing the strikes simply because they were not invading the country. IAF fired their payload from within our borders. They might not have anticipated that Pakistan would engage in air before even they cross the border. The tensions were high since few days before the attack and that's why Pakistan was in high alert mode and played very precautionary.

4. India attack on their air base was after Pakistan tried to fire ballistic missiles in Indian territory. The message was clear we can cause much more damage than we are doing now but we can hit anywhere in Pakistan with precision.

5. Post first day IAF didn't use jets for attack.
Tejas was on patrol duty and didn't have to engage jf 17. Jf 17 might not even know Tejas was there as its orientation could have been different. So it must have just retreated.

I think we are slowly moving towards an air centric approach. There is a high chance that the next CDS will be from the Air force.Plus there is an argument that , India is kind of testing the so-called Nuclear Blackmail,. How much we can engage them in a conventional war under nuclear threat. Kargil was a response to the encroachment, but post Pathankot,  We started targeting terror launchpads in pakistan and Pak occupied Kashmir.
Post op sindoor , it's escalated to ' any terror attack is considered as an act of war '

In terms of material loss, I’d say no, it really wasn’t

While in terms of EXTENT of damage, India inflicted a lot more, but when you look at nature of the damage, even if India did only lose 2 jets (not their bogus claim of 6), that is still far harder to recover than repairing damaged airbases or killing several dozen terrorists that they have thousands of anyway 

Now if the attacks on the airbases manage to damage/destroy some aircraft that were in the hangars, that’s a different matter entirely, which would tip the scales more towards India, but since that damage would be WITHIN the airbase, it’s impossible to get any real/reliable news on that

The main win to come out of the operation and the entire week was the change in doctrine from an Indian perspective, that every terror attack will be treated as an act of war from Pakistan, but that’s getting more into politics that aviation

Regarding the first point - I think this is misinformation. It is asinine that such comically rigid ROEs were in place given our Balakot experience. 

The objective wasn't to engage PAF aircaft but I'm certain when things turned hot, the IAF was under no obligation to sit and eat missiles.

I think the likely scenario is that there was a potential miscalculation of PAF BVR and network capabilities, with multiple long range missiles in the air, things turned chaotic...as it naturally would. 

We traded shots and this frankly seemed like a typical BVR engagement. 

I'm wondering why some targets were hit by the IAF at all. Not sure why we didn't use other assets since trading missiles with another professional and competent air force seems very risky.

Pakistan uses terrorism against India which is basically their very cheap weapon against India which they can use to disrupt economy of a particular place or to hit Indian military.

India wants to increase this cost for Pakistan, currently the cost for them is the training cost of jihadi who are expandable for them. Now the cost would be like training of terrorists + their repairs of hangers + cost of jets + cost of weapons to counter India. This cost they cannot sustain for long. Indias objective was never to acquire Pakistani land, they could have done it already if they wanted, that's just election winning tactics. Moreover we don't want Pakistani morons living with us even if we acquire their land. How will you handle additional 40 crore people ??

That's why India's message is clear, we will hit you if you try even s single terrorist attack and that will cost you dearly in terms of life, air bases, infra and military equipment and to be honest pakistan alone cannot handle this cost in the long run. So eventually they should stop trying terrorism against India. The real issue is, doesn't matter how broke of a country Pakistan is, it has support from turkey which can supply drones for free and China who can provide them high-tech jets on loans which apparently is not causing very heavy burden on Pakistan. 

Pakistan is like a person who is living a lavish life while sinking on loans but it has banks which are ready to provide them loans to pay another one.

While we are earning well but living a conservative life keeping our earnings and expenses in check.

3. India responded, again in self defense, taking out the launch pads of Pak forces itself... since now they are the once launching missiles and drone not just terrorist in some random place
4. Escalation was severe, Nur base attack seemed to have touched a nerve with USA eventually a ceasefire was agreed upon

The mission categorically was to eliminate terrorist bases which we did on the first night itself. That makes the mission successful, what followed after was unprovoked retaliation as we categorically said we have not engaged any civilian economic or military installations. We gave a befitting reply to that retaliation as well under right to respond.

Loss of assets are factored in any operation. Remember IAF didnot perform any sead/dead operation prior to bombing terror targets in day 1. So the loss of jets is expected ,no airforce performes such suicidal mission . But did you hear any loss in day 2 because then IAF was given a free hand to perform dead in forward bases and dead in lateral sites

Only 1 Rafale (BS001) &amp; 1 Mirage(KF106) were deregistered from the Service.

It was a success but not the overwhelming success as the gourmint claims, we did lose atleast 1-2 jets but thankfully the pilots are alive (from what we assume) else this would've honestly been a failure

I cannot express how grateful I am to read your post. As a muslim, I'm sick of seeing Islamophobia everywhere, online and offline. They are terrorists, not hindus, not muslims just sick people who destroy families and will pay for their actions. Islam doesn't teach you to kill innocent people. I love my religion and I always will but that doesn't mean I don't respect other people's religion. Everyone has the right to practice what speaks to their soul.

Ask yourself this question. If you answer Yes, and logically the only rational answer is yes, you would realize that the cause of terrorism is not religion but Pakistan's territorial ambitions in Kashmir and their failing as a functional state.

Islam, like its sister religions - judaism and christianity, needs a period of reflection and reform. But perhaps this isn’t the time or place to go too deep into that discussion. Show them the two ladies who briefed on Operation Sindoor. One of them is Muslim. In the Armed Forces, these things don't matter - they are Indians, but your parents need to be shown such examples.

The same Ambedkar had made a sarcastic comment saying Hindus attach to their Hindu identity only when they fear Islamists and otherwise, they perpetuate their divisions &amp; biases among themselves. His words stand true even today.

I don’t mean to rile anyone up, but my parents used to work with the delhi government areas that were muslim dominated. Sharing a few incidents - 
- during a house to house polio drive, muslim families would shun the medical staff away from their homes, saying that this polio medicine is a poison to kill our children. Unless OUR PRESIDENT MUSHARRAF doesn’t say that it’s okay for us to consume polio medication, we won’t allow you to administer it to our children. 

Only after polio medication was made a mandate by Saudi for Hajj, then muslims in india largely started complying with polio medication 

- on multiple occasions, my parents have heard the speeches of priests in mosques (thanks to the loudspeakers /s) and you can’t imagine how vile it gets. Everything is mentioned, with the broad them being domination and spread of islam. Mind you - these are mosques which are attended by poor/lower classes, and THIS is the ideology being peddled to them

In a nutshell, most Muslims are peaceful people, and then there are radical islamists, a small fraction of Muslims globally that resort to terrorism and insurgency, but there is a significant number of Muslims that are a non-active and potential threat. They’re not pro-India. Let’s not mistake them to be neutral. 

Let’s also not forget the number of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan in our country who are upto God knows what agenda. Sure, some of them may have come here for a better life, but not all of them.

Pakistan is a failed state that can attribute some of its shortcomings to Islam. None of those shortcomings are even remotely applicable to Indian Muslims- their loyalty shouldn't even be questioned. Repeat this message to everyone you know, we're in this together, against Pakistan.

It should always be the oppressor who should be crucified not their religion and caste and whatever, a bad person or group 6 is just bad their religion don't define them. It's simple but we usually forget this.

We are not against muslims. Pakistani is against Hindus. Technically we(all Indians irrespective of religion) should be against pakistani ideology of using islam to provoke hatred against Hindus and India.

And most of all the citizens are likely not against any religion but they are against the thing which is creating issues in the name of religion...

That said, being an hindu I never opposed Ny religion nor made any comparison or criticized any one of it....

But the thing is people of other religion most of all tend to show off and then start to behave in a aggressive manner which makes me and several others uncomfortable.

And this is the point where it boils up and ends in bringing in unnecessary stuffs which in turn leads to a bad atmosphere.

Unless a Muslim directly shows that they are on the side of terrorists/ Pakistan or shows ideology of Jihad, which isn't the ethos of Indian Muslims, they shouldn't be treated differently, we are one people.  There are a miniscule few who are like that, and those too, I've only seen them abroad, not in India.

If you are having difficulty digesting this opinion, imagine if your father/brother were standing in front of the 4 terrorists and being asked their religion.

It is quite easy to grasp that OP is a Muslim or Muslim Apologist. I don't disagree with your point which is "Don't hate the 1% because of the 99%" because it makes sense but I also don't buy your story about "House" and "Parents" and "Society". A child born yesterday cannot hate anyone and there are some in the community who genuinely put India before Islam. But at the same time I will borrow your words and say "Lets not generalize". I see this sentence in 100% of posts after an attack "Terrorism has no religion". I also see "Your direct translation of Quran is incorrect, please allow me to add some context which can justify it". 

But lets not forget the reason why this is happening. The reason is lack of communal accountability. Whenever there is any extremism or terrorism anywhere in the world, you very very likely will see that it was committed by someone who calls himself a Muslim. Now imagine that you have a school and whenever there is any terrorism, the terrorist always claims they are from your school. Will the school ever accept that "Yes this person studied in my school"? The school would always deny this allegation. But now in a similar situation, suppose there is a press conference and some unrelated persons says "The owner of the school is a bad person". Now the school is deeply offended by this and they take to the streets to protest against this person and call for her to be beheaded. 

In this scenario we can clearly see that the school will take to the streets against someone if they insult them but they will not do the same against the person who insulted the school by claiming to be from said school. Now in this entire scenario, I don't think I need to explain what is the parallel to reality. There is no Anti-Muslim sentiment among Indians, it is called Pattern Recognition. But there is a way to break this pattern recognition. It is by taking accountability. All that has to be done is for religious leaders to make a public statement saying "If the people who did Pahalgam, the ones who are doing West Bengal, the ones who have committed numerous atrocities against Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh, call themselves a Muslim then they will lay down their arms and stop all attacks". Leaders from all other religions do make such statements publicly but never from one religion.
