Our Romanian Giordano (George Simion) is once again humiliated by his idol, Meloni. He's tried to associate himself with right-wingers from other countries, but no sane ones welcomed him with open arms as he's had wet dreams about. Each one of them have taken to support Ukraine, helping Gaza and distancing themselves or criticizing Netanyahu. Not even Farage, the craziest one of them on par with our Romanian ones, gave him enough attention even after Giordano went to an anti-immigration protest in UK (place where lots of Romanians are living).

I wonder why does everyone think that the Italian ship is going to help the Flotilla? Sure it's going to protect it from direct attacks but it's also going to help Israel turn them around and make them go home. The Israeli and Italian navy did a lot of exercises and drills together, the most logical outcome here is cooperation under the table.

If Israel wants to sink them, it can easily do it and I doubt it would use some small drones that take out a sail on a sailboat.  
The way it is, they'll sail into territorial waters and get apprehended for illegal entry, ships impounded, people arrested. Noting weird about that.

Or is it some old traditional OG fascism, where the racial supremacy thing just doesn't cut it for you enough to truly  enjoy a colonial genocide? Is it that what's good having frigates, if you don't bring them out for a joyride sometimes?

The what? To be fair I hate the flottilla and the people on it but I agree that Italian ships should be defended. The problem is that at a certain point (not now) the flottilla will end up in Israel naval territory which is blocked so what will happen then if the Italian military ships follows them? Also I fear that this, just as the recognition of Palestine by many countries, happened just because of internal politics mainly due to a "blackmail" sent by big protests and the fear of terrorism, also I remember you that today Italian opposition occupied the parliament (then they say right wingers are fascists lol).

A weird situation all round.

Italy seems to actually be pretty critical of the flotilla itself, and is asking them to distribute the aid via approved means, same as Israel is demanding.

They haven't released any video footage as far as I can see, which is concerning after the previous drone attack which was, frankly, suspicious: yet the Italian navy are obviously taking this seriously, as did the EU border agency, which suggests it being real or at least credible.

However when said border agency reached out to the flotilla to offer help, they declined? Unless there's important context missing from the article, that's fairly bizarre.

Of course, the flotilla won't end the famine in Gaza. It's clearly a political movement seeking to break the siege of Gaza rather than a specific aid delivery. It also seeks to further isolate the Zionist regime, just as with the Vuelta a España and the boycott of Israel at Eurovision, among other initiatives.

The flotilla clearly doesn't carry all the necessary aid, but it is a multinational initiative of dozens of ships and hundreds of people who are undoubtedly NOT terrorists. If Israel attacks them again, it will once again demonstrate its barbarity and deepen its isolation. If it lets them through, it will open the door to exponentially increasing pressure to stop its attack on Gaza City and allow humanitarian aid into the Strip.

This doesnt prevent other initiatives, especially on the part of States, to increase aid, but I think it's clear that in the face of genocide, no citizen initiatives are unnecessary; today, everything helps.

The idea of the flotilla is to persuade the Israeli government and the IDF to reconsider the blockade, and to persuade other actors around the world to reconsider their respect for the blockade.

The cost to Israel of maintaining the blockade over the last decade or so has been minimal (purely reputational): deterred by the announcement that there is a blockade, people avoid sailing to Gaza.

The idea of these flotillas is to change that, and make the cost of maintaining the blockade significant, with a view to prompting the IDF to reconsider whether the cost is worth the benefit.

It's an incredibly important and brave thing to do.

The flotilla obviously can't solve the food supply issue, but that's not really the point. It serves a symbolic purpose. The pro-Israeli side wants to frame the famine in Gaza as some unfortunate logistical error, crossed wires between themselves and the UN, an accidental misunderstanding of what could be supplied or whatever. The flotilla is needed to demonstrate that the famine is a result of Israel directly preventing food from reaching Gaza for extended periods and allowing in only insufficient food for most other periods. It has to be constantly highlighted that people don't have enough food in Gaza because the Israeli government is choosing to prevent enough food from reaching them.

Yes these ships mostly very small, and they also have to carry food for the people on them, which is a lot of people, above the natural carry capacity of the ship to begin with. I think the point is not to carry aid but to cause a confrontation with Israel so they can cry about it to the media. It is unclear where they got the funding for this, which is a very expensive stunt for some Tiktoks.

They’re called grifters and they exist on both sides of politics. For conservatives it’s always say something edgy that is racist, homophobic sexist etc just to get attention. The aid is a bonus but it's more about highlighting the blockade itself which stops aid getting through and is a core issue brining poverty to Gaza.

The funniest part about the whole flotilla publicity stunt is that there is no way for the boats to dock and unload the aid. I have read that they are aware of this. 

The only place for the boats to dock is in Port Ashdod in Israel, which for one, goes against the whole purpose of their stunt. Second, Israel will have to intercept them before they are able to dock and that gives them the opportunity to have pictures taken - saying they have been kidnapped while sucking down hummus. 

It’s a massive publicity stunt.

From what I have read, it's a symbolic amount of aid, whatever that means, probably not that much. Yeah its a waste of time, Israel said they are going to arrest them and be put in jail in terrorist style conditions. So they can experience what hamas terrorists experience when they get arrested.

They are a joke when their kitchen set a light they accused israel of targeting them with a drone. That is a unique kind of drone that can only start a kitchen fire. If an actual drone hit them it would have sank the boat. Boat is fine just damage in the kitchen. 

They are interested in publicity for themselves they don't care about Palestinians really. 
They could go to ramallah and then travelled to gaza, seen others talk about how they did and they actually helped out with aid organisations. The flotilla could have done that too, but they would have to deal with the Palestinian authority if they wanted to get through their territory.

Any Europeans here? I’m in the states, where the student divestment movement was crushed and (for the past 50 years) associational life has been hollowed out to the point where effective mass protest is difficult to even conceptualize. Plus: the genocide is disappearing from mainstream news coverage, now that it’s too indefensible to even dishonestly portray as a defensive war (the New York Times’ buried the official UN finding of genocide on page 8!)

But I’m getting a growing sense that European civil society is on the verge of revolt over EU governments’ continued support for Israel/subservience to Washington, especially if the flotilla is directly attacked. (Even in Germany, most voters are calling it a genocide, even though this isn’t translating to action).

Is this the case? It seems that the best chance we have of stopping this holocaust is 1) Europeans taking matters into their own hands, and 2) the UN General Assembly invoking the Uniting For Peace precedent and bypassing the U.S. veto. We know Israel won’t stop, and that the U.S. won’t make them stop. I see a glimmer of hope with what’s happening in Spain and Italy, but I’m not versed in politics or society there.

We are organizing on the wait, in Italy and in Spain we have started to threaten our own governments with actions, we are ready to hit the system hard.

I suggest everyone do the same in any way they can.

We have made our governments send at least two warships, but this is not enough. We know our EU governments continue to speak as they fully collaborate with Israel and the genocide, we will not allow their lies to consolidate.

I suggest everyone be ready for the worst too and be prepared to go out into the streets and block everything. Start sending early warnings and make people aware.
