You'd be horrified if you see the time lapse of our railway network development since 1947.

In the last few decades, no government has adequately invested in Pakistan Railways to upgrade track infrastructure, signal systems, and engines and carriages. Added to the lack of investment, the Railway faces regular instances of cronyism and exploitation of its funds, land &amp; jobs for political/personal gains. The destruction of our national assets and public sector is exemplified by Pakistan Railways.

Despite being more expensive, motorways were preferred over the upgrade of the railway network. Motorways are sexy. Railway tracks? Not so much. And Pakistan does have some of the best motorways around.

Ours is not as extensive but this map is clearly incomplete. We have tracks going to Baluchistan, Khyber and connected to Iran.

We have focused too much on motorways and expressways rather than railways. People don't like to travel in rail because road transport can take them to their destination quicker with our current infrastructure. Railways would have been lot more better, because we first need to upgrade the track from Peshawar to Karachi through Lahore and Lalamusa, and it will connect most of our population centers.

a lot of the infrastructure for railways in india was set up during British rule, so was ours but the western provices werent populous enough nor was the terrain favorable enough for extensive railway projects back then. as long the 4 big cities were connected, which they did Lahore, peshawar, karachi and rawalpindi.

That’s because Railways are the instrument through which the British commanded control over India. Most of the population and resources were inside India than the infrastructure in today’s Pakistan. That’s why you see negligible infra in Pakistan as compared to India. Also railways have always been a loss making enterprise.

My thought process while making this map has been about maximum passenger attraction and ease of travel. Example: Skipping out on Lucknow and instead taking the line through Kanpur-Prayagraj-Varanasi would attract more passengers.  


Instead of steam-rolling each and every town and village with HSR like China, it only passes through cities big enough to attract ridership. Indian Railways, Metros, and RRTS systems will  
complement the service. Smaller cities may do so with Buses and (possible) LRT systems.  


International Lines are a more far-fetched idea, although I believe Delhi-Lahore and Kolkata-Dhaka can be economically viable. That said it depends on whether our neighbors agree to fund their part.

From Bangalore, closest bus stop is \~50 meters from home. New busses keep getting added and the fleet is pretty updated. They don't send electric busses just yet to this route, though. Cuz the roads are very narrow here. For those wondering it's Begur road (343, 343A,B,E,H,K,L,M,N, 344A,C,D,F,J, 345, 345A,C,E,F, 362C,CA). Almost all busses are trackable via the app and is extremely reliable. Very less or no waiting time at all.

City has an amazing airport and plenty of railway stations as well as operational trains to the airport too. Most of them are accessible by bus, although many are still completely isolated.

Bengaluru The closest bus stop is where the route starts,  (650m away) has plenty of space to sit, and a public restroom.

Fleet was just updated with new buses, easily well maintained, a bus every 30 mins or so The metro feeder also stops here, so it's very convenient.

Airport connectivity is present, airport buses ply at most hours and can be found in most areas! (east bangalore) Railway connectivity to more populated stations like Majestic, no connection to closer stations in the whitefield area!

Mumbai. closest stop is About 200m walking. we have a mix of new battery, diesel, and old diesel &amp; CNG busses. BEST is lacking on resources to get new busses so busses are not repalced as frequently as needed.

Yes. old airport has semi convenient metro access (station is a bit far and the route from metro stn. to airport is not great). the bus routes are not efficient for connections to station but they exist. they are not as frequent not direct so you're better off using rickshaws to connect to stations in most areas.

Ahmedabad. There's AMTS stop right below my Pg and BRTS stop 700m from my new PG. Last year they ordered new BRTS buses. This year AMC ordered new double decker buses (which run between Gandhinagar and Amdawad) and AMC is planning to purchase more electrical buses completely replacing Diesel BRTS buses very soon

- AMTS stop is right next to my PG I didn't even know wtf 😭
- rn BRTS 800m but when I previously lived at Gulbai Tekra our closest BRTS stop was like 30-40m far (Vasundhara society BRTS stop)

main railway station (Kalupur) is connected via all means of public transport (AMTS, BRTS, metro), whenever I have to catch a train I take 9 number BRTS and change to 8 which takes me straight to Kalupur railway station 

other railway stations :
- Chanlodiya : AMTS
- Sabarmati : AMTS, BRTS and metro, all connect it

my new PG is in Gota which is closer to Chanlodiya station so I prefer taking AMTS to Chanlodiya if trains stop there, or it's BRTS/metro to Kalupur depending on mood. NOTE : Chanlodiya station is still under construction 

Airport : Sardar Vallabhbhai Airport is connected to both BRTS and AMTS, they're extending metro to airport directly now let's see when that completes
