It's not only counsellors, on Tuesday I went to Deputy Registrar UG for asking a question that "When will my income certificate be verified and if it will take long time then should I apply for late registration?" because I am unable to pay whole fees of 1,50,000 at one time and if my income certificate gets verified then my fees will be revised and it will be reduced.
But the response he gave me traumatized me for a moment he said why haven't you done this 10 days ago ,So I said that I uploaded it in June but it was rejected and then I applied for income certificate in new format so it took time. To this he said " I don't know and you should pay your whole fees and it's up to you to do anything for late registration or not".
I mean what kind of response would you expect after this from a student coming from weak financial background because I also read somewhere that if you don't do subject registration on time then you have to take this semester again next year

I am an alumnus—perhaps a little older now—but I continue to follow this group closely. Every time I come across such heartbreaking news from campus, it deeply pains me. This time, I felt I must speak up.Often, our first reaction is to blame the institute. But rarely do we pause to ask,

Why did this happen? What can we all do to prevent it?

Yes, there are definite gaps in counseling and student welfare systems. But that’s only one side of the story.

The other side includes: Love betrayal and emotional distress ,Excessive pressure from parents ,Over-controlling family environments

These are deeply personal challenges that cannot be handled by the institute alone.

To Students:

Please don’t let temporary pain weaken you. Life is much bigger than any one person, one job, or one failure.

If you don’t have a BF/GF – it’s okay. There are so many beautiful experiences and people waiting for you.

If you’ve been betrayed – move on. Pain fades, and life moves forward.

Job/Internship pressures – remember, these are just one part of your journey. There are endless opportunities beyond IIT.

Make real friendships – people who support you, listen to you, and grow with you.

Spend time in labs/libraries – empower yourself with knowledge. Be so good that even someone like Zuckerberg will come searching for you.

Engage in activities – sports, clubs, competitions, and events. Get involved. Stay connected.

To the Institute:

You’ve started many commendable student wellbeing initiatives. But now it’s time to implement them rapidly and sincerely.

Strengthen the student welfare committees with more resources, trained staff, and authority.

Be vigilant. Launch awareness campaigns so students can report if they see anyone showing signs of mental health issues or behavioral changes.

Bring in mental health experts – help students understand emotional wellness, resilience, and coping strategies.

Let’s remember: no one can solve this alone. It requires collective awareness, empathy, and action.Let’s stop reacting and start responding – together.

He was already down. He fought with his mother intensely the day before and his mother confirmed and called a mess staff to get to convince him about something. By then he is gone. Kharagpur is a very secluded town and there's something in the air that makes people feel stressed and hopeless. It's a feeling that maybe a shipwrecked person left stranded alone in an island can relate with. This is what I used to feel when I was there.

The reality of the situation is it's a cut-throat world in all IITs with some of the most hardworking people and intelligent minds competing against you but other big IITs like Bombay/Delhi have a vibrant surrounding to fallback to. You can either go to nearby hill stations or beaches easily and connect with nature or visit places in the city to get some new cultural experience. In Kgp you are just stuck in an old soviet style town with dilapidated buildings. It makes you feel hopeless sometimes. Like you're stuck in some deep dark place.

My suggestion is to just survive whatever way you can and help others who are in need. If people around you are withdrawn, or feel like they're struggling, spend some time with them and involve them. Things do and will get better. You're crème de la crème and once you get outside you'll understand how wide the gulf is between you and the rest of the world.

Please trust the doctors. I have seen schizophrenia in my family very closely. The patient cannot differentiate between reality and psychosis. If you cannot trust your family, please trust the doctors only and take your medication as prescribed. Medication does wonders and my family member is okay now. They don’t have psychosis anymore.

I think you should visit a psychiatrist of your own choice and check for yourself. Patients will never know that they are indeed experiencing manic episodes and in ome cases are completely unaware of the things they do / have done.

I can relate. Im a 26 year old girl from Delhi.In 2022 my family lived in Delhi, I had my internship going on in my college in Maharashtra where I stayed in a flat and didn't have my own source of income but holidays were allowed in my college internship so I took sometime to come home in Gujarat for few days ( where my father was staying) then few days in  Delhi( where my mother was staying ). In those few days in Gujarat my father got angry at me one morning about me watching tv too much and while I was sleeping he came and said something about the tv and slapped me , then I woke up and he just continued to slap me atleast 13 times and they were strong slaps.At home my parents called a psychiatrist to talk to me who asked me if I heard voices to which  I said no and he asked few other questions still none were about me wanting to kill myself or wanting to kill or hurt someone else. Then I joined an externship which was unpaid and far from my Delhi home so I stayed in a PG. My parents didn't like me staying in a PG in Delhi. One day I was outside the PG , within the society three people suddenly came told me they were the police , I asked for their identity card but they didn't show any, forcefully grabbed me and put me in their car.2 of them were the clinic staff and 1 of them got out of the vehicle on the way to the clinic so not sure about him.Right next to the car my father was there too and I thought maybe he had just come to visit me at the PG and his timing was a coincidence. They then admitted me to the multi-speciality clinic for 7 days. 

After discharge I went back to Maharashtra to complete my college internship and one day  my parents told me to come outside my flat and to the college because the administration wanted to meet me. So I came to college and from there I was admitted to a Psychiatry ward again. While I was admitted i'm not sure who but maybe my father said I'll be admitted for a year atleast.My mother insisted to not have me admitted so they let me go in 22 days with medicines to take at home for a year and for regular Out Patient Department visit for a year in case they wanted to admit me at any point . Since the medicines were for a year it was likely that I would've been admitted for a year.

Immediately after the second time I was discharged  my family and I shifted to Jaipur.Ive taken the medicines at home, no more medicines now. Somehow completed my college internship and got my degree. Now my family wants me to get a job and stay with them but I don't want to stay with family. It's been about 4-5 months that a doctor has started coming to the house who is my fathers friend, who does talk to me.Hes asked me to find work for myself.This is the first time he's had a doctor as his friend introduced to the family.

All I want is to move out,live on my own and for my parents to not call the ambulance, police because everytime they call someone they listen to my family. I'm scared I'll be admitted again. I'll be grateful for any help.Also my father knows a lot of people so i'm sure if one day I just leave the house and leave a note or something that I've left home , he'll call someone. Also talking to them that I want to live on my own isn't an option. After being discharged for the second time i've been living with my parents for 1 year 6 months now and they only want me to stay with them.Also I don't hear voices ,I don't have visual hallucinations, I don't want to hurt myself or someone else and this is what I've told all the doctors as well . My diagnosis while admitted was  Unspecified nonorganic psychosis. Both times when I was admitted tests were done and it was alright,i had high cholesterol ,low B12, low vitamin D, low calcium.I wrote this in a hurry so there are still things to add, but this is all for now.

I don’t understand why people want the questions to be published. Even INICET doesn’t publish questions. But nobody questions AIIMS on it or on the malpractices of INICET counselling (eg., IP quota for 6 year courses).

Honestly, I’m all for transparency — in India, anything is possible. In the last exam, a lot of guys got scores that seemed impossible. If mass discrepancies are found, it could massively impact the rank list. NBEMS releasing the answer keys, scores, and questions for NEET PG would go a long way in ensuring fairness and restoring trust.
