Soldiers have been getting killed in droves for the last 12-18 months or so, with the TTP making a mockery out of the competence of the army (not surprising if the the leadership's focus is on political repression and playing economic billiards).

Since day one of AT taking control of Afghanistan Pakistan has been pressuring Afghanistan to stop harbouring TTP. That was the entire pretense of supporting the AT by the establishment in the first place. The Afghan Taliban are certified namak harrams and the big brained generals thought that these rabid street dogs could be turned into loyal dogs.

After coming into power the AT tried tearing the border down multiple times because they don't accept the durand line and the TTP kept carrying out attacks which is what led the afghan migrants to be deported. I condemn some of these actions but you're pretty dense to think that this all just started and your hot takes are just garbage talking points that can be found all over the place and lack any historical context. Another example of how uninformed you are is the fact that you think asim munir needs an extension in two months. He already got one in 2024 for 2 *additional* years.

Afg FM blamed Pakistan for Pehelgam and called Kashmir a part of India. They also killed dozens of our troops. Sure our hybrid govt is pretty evil but we definitely need to move beyond words in Afg imo. 

Don't think anyone with any power in Pakistan was going to oppose extension any way, they won't compromise a whole border for an extension.

Pakistan had hoped that TTP problem will be resolved after American exit from Afghanistan which happened in 2021. Bajwa/Imran tried the peace route, offering to resettle displaced TTP (pushed to Afghanistan after Nawaz/Rohail operations post APS) in Pakistan or Afghanistan. 

TTP/TTA used the peace interval to regroup and retrench themselves in FATA. Now with full backing of TTA and deadly top of the line US weapons, they have unleashed a deadly series of attacks.

Do you not watch the news? Do you not know how the casualties of our forces are increasing week by week? If you don't know why bother with analysis. If you do, it is pretty disingenuous of you to sneak in absurd conspiracies when the simple fact is that these losses were not sustainable and something had to be done to disrupt their support system in Afghanistan.

There is something about us Pakistanis wanting to find a conspiracy under every rock. Even with obvious patterns in our face, we want to emphasize on hidden theories.

There were no efforts spared to try and work with the Afghan authorities and avoid confrontation. However, the recent killing of soldiers in orakzai was a breaking point for us. This is why the current  reaction happened.

There is no proof of an enormous number of protestors being killed in Muridke. There is however report of 1 policeman and 3 protestors being killed, which is unfortunate.

But everyone who knows TLP is witness to the fact that this group can get violent and out of control at anytime. I don't blame the law enforcement people who were there for using force.

Pakistan army is loosing their foothold with the general populace. They need a boogeyman to maintain control of the population. They tried it with India and found out how expensive it is. Hence, this time they found a soft target in Afghanistan. And voila, another conflict to rally the populace in support of the army

If this is true, it really shows either how unequipped the Pakistan army was, and/or how much they underestimated the Afghans. If these numbers are any indicator of how many soldiers were stationed to each post, it’s no wonder they got absolutely spanked in one go.

Never thought I’d say I was a little impressed with the taliban but it’s 2025 and here we are.
Not saying they deserved it by any means, but if it’s true that they indiscriminately bombed Kabul, then this is a pretty fair response. 

And of course let’s not forgot the Pakistani terrorists that murdered dozens of civilians in India recently and their government’s shitty response to it.

I don't know if things shifted a lot in Pakistan since the Global War on Terror days but I do recall, you can't think of Pakistan as one unified government. The military, the ISI (intelligence) and the political parties have different agendas and allies and are at low-key war with each other over control of the country. The security apparatus isn't fully under the control of the civilian government and they compete with each other.

So it's possible that "Pakistan" is both in an alliance with and at war with the Taliban, depending on which power center your talking about. Its possible this a proxy battle of an internal Pakistani conflict (ISI is usually the one linked up with terrorist groups with the military close to the US)

That looks bad if 58 soilders are killed in an overnight operation. If things escalate in the same manner for Pakistan then it would have no choice and it would be compelled to  ask the Americans for intervention again . Twice in the same year .

Or perhaps the Pakistan Army is playing America's game altogether. US and Pakistan have a history of destabilising Afganistan. Pakistan has waged proxy war and cross border terrorism in Afghanistan for the US in return of US aid IMf loans and military aid and equipments .

In recent Trump signalled US wanting the Bagram Airbase back that is not possible without Pakistan's support.

So far Afghanistan is claiming 58 Pakistani soldiers killed and 30 wounded. Pakistan is admitting to 23 killed and 29 wounded.

Pakistan is claiming 200+ Afghan soldiers killed and "a much higher number" wounded. I don't see anywhere that Afghanistan is admitting to casualties.

With Pakistan's support and China and Russia's covert help, the Taliban occupied Kabul. The Taliban government and Pakistan were close, but five years later their friendship was broken. It is obvious that Pakistan is in serious policy chaos and the Taliban government is completely untrustworthy.

As an Afghan, I have hated Pakistan as well. Not the general public, but the government. 

So I will give some reasons to why Afghans are hostile to Pakistan, but I don't claim all of them are true. They are people's perspectives:

~ Pakistan produces Islamic terrorists, and sends them into Afghanistan for pre-programed Jihad. 
Some Afghans, during the Ghani time at least, said that Pakistan helped arm, feed, train and brainwash gullible Afghan and turned them into Taliban, ISIS or Al-Qaida. Even when you look up google, it will tell you that at least ten different Islamist terrorists groups operate in Pakistan. 
The fact that Osama was hiding and killed in Pakistan didn't help much either.

~ Pakistan mistreated a lot of the refugees. Even though Pakistan hosted millions of refugees at times of crisis, they were poorly treated. Harassments, bullying, blackmails, financially scammed, beaten and wrongly imprisoned. I have heard these stories even from my mother. Most of the mistreatmenta came from Pakistani Police. 

~ Pakistan smuggles genuine Afghan goods and sells them on the international market, or the black market, as Pakistani products. Goods such as carpets, rugs, dry fruit, precious stones, metals, minerals and more. Pakistanis pays pennies in return. 

~ Pakistani government, especially the ISI, have done great atrocities to Afghans, in Pakistan and in Afghanistan. Bombings, torture for information, blackmail, etc. 

~ Pakistani public and government slanders and/or disrespects Afghans online.

~ Pakistan is illegally and forcefully ruling over Afghan lands, which should have been returned more than 30 years ago. The Durand line border is always an issue. Afghans say that the British contract of Durand was only for a century and Pakistan must return the Afghan lands.

Same time as Taliban coming to power... Pakhtuns are the largest minority group in Pakistan, and governing a foreign neighbouring country. Not that much of a paradox ...

The short answer is Pakistan is the dog that caught the car.  They got what they wanted, a Taliban takeover but now they’re not sure what to do and maybe realizing this wasn’t such a good idea after all.

I think your questions are harder to answer than you think. Pakistani govt. support etc for Taliban is one of the biggest issues. People from Afghanistan dislike Taliban and thus also Pakistan for hiding them. Taliban probably dislikes Pakistan because Pakistani govt. seems to don't like a neutral Afghanistan, i.e. staying neutral when it comes to India and Pakistan issues. It seems like the Pakistani govt. only accepts a pro-pakistan Afghanistan, because being neutral is probably seen as pro-indian. Afghanistan has too many issues to care about Pakistan-India issues tbh.

Notwithstanding the prideful pro-establishment ones, the issue with most Pakistanis is that they are unaware of the scale of the intervention that their intelligence agency and military had undertaken in all provinces of Afghanistan. Brigadier Mohammad Yousaf of the Pakistan Army has some answers in his memoir that probably will satisfy your curiosity.

As the head of ISI’s Afghan Bureau from 1983 till 1987, he was responsible for managing the 9 years-long anti-Soviet jihad in 80s not far from Islamabad and had written a book detailing his experience during those 4 years. Although he clearly sees his service through a patriotic lens, his indifference to the militarization and destruction of Afghanistan’s people and physical assets is quite palpable.

Not an Afghan, but the answer is clear. In a conflict between A &amp; B, if you support A, you will antagonize B. Then you change your policies, and start supporting B, you will antagonize A. The end result is that both A &amp; B don't like you. That is partly what happened here. The other thing is that taliban are religious but they are still nationalist. They are not that much into the concept of ummah (as Pakistanis think). So they have their own views and some times national interests conflict (transit trade with India, smuggling, Durand line). Also in recent times there is the issue of TTP which has caused quite a bit of stress and actions on both sides. 


So that is why they dislike Pakistan, why do they like India? Because of Indian movies and that they don't have a shared border with India. If there were four million Afghan refugees in India for four decades, the experience and perception would be very different.

Living in the U.S., even we know about the Haqqani network/ISI and how Pakistan intentionally kept Afghanistan unstable to continue to collect checks  from the US and others. Keeping AF unstable is akin to the Golden Goose. Why else would they have sheltered Osama Bin Laden near their military base? 

The average Pakistani should not be hated, but the government absolutely should be, it has a lot of blood on its hands. Whereas India is the largest regional investor in humanitarian aid having invested $10.8 billion since 2012.

1 and 2; Pakistan was playing a double game, called strategic depth. They got money to have American in their countries but at the same time they were supporting Taliban militant. Hence why both talib and ghani hate pak.

B; afghans/Pashtuns be it talib or not , dislike Pakistan/punjabis due to them ruling large part of Pashtun areas. Nobody in afg ever accepted the Durand line hence why they hate pak.

C; again pak is known to play all sides and turn on you. They did it since the 70s with all political sides. 

D: most refugees reside in Pashtun areas hence why they don’t consider it Pakistan. Pakistan for an Afghan is Karachi and Lahore. Not Peshawar or quetta. Again afghans and Pashtuns don’t recognise the Durand line. 

E; you also provided sui1de vests and scud missile . My grandfathers home was destroyed by scud missile in 1990s, you think a mere scholarship will make me forget that?

F; Durand line.

G; don’t know about that. But afg supported Pashtun nationalist in the 60s.
