This wasn't a Gen Z protest, the protest barely got any people to join for what was supposed to be the largest protest in a city with more than 20 million people. 

Not only that, the original ideal of the protest was stolen by the far right party known as the PAN, in the videos it can be seen that most people who went were actually boomers, and it was pushed by the millionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego who was recently charged with all of the taxes he has refused to pay while exploiting the working class to the bone, who was inciting a coup to rid himself of that debt and is now even trying to go for presidency. The government in Mexico sucks, but this movement was promoting an even worse outcome for us the Gen Z

Well, I only saw a handful of young people from Generation Z and the rest were chili, sweet and butter shouting the same old slogans without support or argument, but they were very violent, some with their actions and the rest with their words. The march served to express all their hatred against the government for the ideas they buy from political parties and the media that are dedicated to lying. What a shame that they have violated Generation Z by expropriating their name for a march, but it is a lesson for young people to identify who continues to minimize them and only use them for their interests.

Cartel in this year alone have killed at least 11 mayors but I think a total of 35 have so far died.  The past prime ministers in Mexico have been known to take hundred million bribes from Cartel.  They control key industries through violence - avocadoes, chicken/tortillas, fuel, logging, limes, construction.  They hijacked a bus and forced the occupants to fight to the death gladiator style.  They made another school bus of children disappear - and nothing happened.  Just recently they fought the mexican military, held an entire town hostage to get the release of El Chapo's son - and won.

I've been all over mexico - as a tourist you're relatively safe staying in the big cities.   But I stay cautious and don't fuck with strangers.

Just going to clear some things up, this was not a "new generation" thing. It was an attempt by right wing politicians to start a movement and hopefully for them, start some chaos. It was mostly financed by political actors to position Ricardo Salinas, a disgraced Mexican businessman, as a presidential figure. 

Protest organizers called for Gen Zs but it was mostly composed of older individuals. 

There was a Gen Z demonstration last week, but it was demonized by the people who went to this one because they flew Palestinian flags.

This was a nothing burger, it was a small crowd.

Edit: Ricardo Salinas is a media mogul, so across his TV channels and radio stations there was overblown coverage. Also there were plenty of bots on Twitter and curiously, here in Mexican subreddits.

Well first off the whole war on drugs is a scam. Cops rather get the money than stop the drugs from coming in. The problem is that there isnt one dominant cartel. They can never fix the problem because taking out one cartel creates a power vacuum that someones going to fill. And usually the most violent cartels are the ones who win in that vacuum. You can never stop this at the supply side. If theres enough demand there will be a cartel to provide it. Its basic economics and stupid if you think you can change that. Theres a cartel for Avocadoes and they arent even illegal.
