Iran was able to build up its military and geopolitical position by not engaging in active war against Israel. They have lost a huge amount of power now.

Even if Hamas or Hezbolla are reconstituted the new leaders will probably be more wary of working with Iran due to Iran’s impotence when the confrontation began.

Ironically Iran simply had redirected their military and regional ambitions and instead used all of those funds to build up their economy they would be in a far better position today. Instead all of that money and political capitol has been spent without tangible gain.

Unless the Iranian fired up the Arak Heavy water reactor and it gets hit directly - appr. zero at any significant distance from the impact areas.

The radioactivity of uranium itself is fairly low and it does not tend to form aerosols, while unlike plutonium route there are no highly radioactive side products.

Adding to what others have said, any contamination from a conventional strike would be fairly local without a large mushroom cloud to loft &amp; spread it. Given that these sites are in the middle of the desert it wouldn't pose a significant risk to civilians, but it would be a nasty cleanup job for the Iranian government to deal with on top of losing the facilities. My instinct is they'd probably just bulldoze the topsoil into a hole, or cover it with more soil.


Uranium's not highly radioactive but it is extremely toxic. It would be very bad if this got into watercourses or groundwater.

This is proof that Iran does not want peace.  It is proof that it intends to act on its threats to destroy Israel, the US and Arab nations.  Iran does not need enrichment.  It does not even need nuclear power because it's sitting on a massive amount of oil and gas and a massive amount of territory that is good for solar and wind energy.  There is no excuse for them to enrich.  Their goal is military.  The proof is the fact that they enriched to 60%, far above any commercial or medical use.
