Well, there is some merit to the argument if we look at “intellectuals” as planners and motivators rather than just people who read books. Take Sharjeel Imam as an example. In his speech, he didn’t simply express anger or dissatisfaction; he identified the Siliguri Corridor, the “Chicken’s Neck”, as a strategic choke point, openly suggested that Assam and the Northeast could be cut off from the rest of India through a chakka jam there, and framed this as a form of protest. That combination is what worries the state: identifying a known vulnerability, calling for mass mobilisation around it, and presenting it as legitimate can normalise the idea and turn it into a template that far more extreme actors, including secessionist groups or hostile foreign players can later exploit. In that sense, the person who designs and legitimises a strategy can sometimes be more dangerous than the person who merely executes it; operatives are replaceable, but remove the mind that designs the campaign and shapes the narrative, and the structure may actually weaken. When such messaging comes from a doctor, engineer, PhD student or public intellectual, it gains respectability, looks intellectually grounded, and can attract educated youth who would ignore crude propaganda. History shows this pattern: Nazi propagandists like Goebbels were “intellectuals” of a sort surely more dangerous than a random Nazi soldier. I’m not equating Imam with Nazis, but using that example to show why, in a threat comparison, there is a reasonable case to see certain intellectuals as posing a deeper, longer-term risk than some ground-level operatives, even while we should be careful and balanced in how we apply that label.

Now, whether the intellectuals are forced to abandon meek arguments and their protests is entirely upto to the bhakts. Laws like UAPA and PMLA are designed to keep "undesirables" in jail permanently, without trial or bail. Only illiterate people think that whoever is arrested are bad guys. In reality, the police is corrupt, and the government is draconian. The prosecutor (like Tushar Mehta here) is always someone who takes orders from the government and enjoys prosecuting the powerless.

I pray whoever across the bureaucracy rejecting their bail and in whatever manner what ever levels their sleep gets disturbed "chronically" and their all chronobiology gets disturbed and haywire .
